e-pharm! GLOBE
Our department has set up several goals: surpassing the quality of medical center, providing patient-oriented services, and making continuous innovation. It is our mission to continuously make efforts for achieving these goals. The department, which has two divisions: Prescription and Clinical Pharmacy, provides all kinds of pharmaceutical cares including (1) Prescription for outpatients and emergency clinic, (2) Unit dose distribution service (UDDS), (3) Compounding of chemotherapeutic agents and total parenteral nutrition (TPN), (4) Patient counseling service (PCS), (5) Ward visiting, (6) Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), (7) Drug utilization evaluation (DUE), (8) Pharmaceutical care for critical patients, (9) Medication guide for groups and communities, and (10) Patient support and service by a web-based system called e-pharm, etc.
Lately, our team was devoted to enhancing efficiency and management of drug safety. We develop many creative services including bar code system for managing prescription drugs, real-time monitoring of patient-waiting for prescriptions, helpline for adverse drug reaction (ADR), appointment for prescription refill, prescription bag with instruction figures, drug information index and opening lectures for drug guides, etc . It is also innovative to have a Pharmacy Education group under division of clinical pharmacy. Under this group, the mission is to strengthen the pharmacy education to the medical staffs and the public. Especially, it provides all kinds of programs and operation platforms to the pharmacy interns and new pharmacy professionals. Thus, it improves the quality of pharmacy education entirely.
Starting from 2006, the department initiates the TDM plans for certain drugs dispensed to inpatients and outpatients in the long-term treatment. The plans not only assure the drug safety but also help the preparation of clinical drug guidelines inside the hospital. In 2007, the department participate the medical service mission in Gambia. Meanwhile, we also provide the pharmacists coming from Panama, China, and Korea with opportunities of visiting and practical training in our facility. It is our goal to continue these research plans and international communications in the future.
